Apple Sauce Bread

Apple Sauce Bread

1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tea. vanilla
½ to 1 cup raisins
1 lb candied fruit or ½ lb (11 oz.) gumdrops, cut in half and omit the green candy.
3 ½ cup flour 
1 tea. soda dissolved in 
2 cups applesauce
½ tea. salt
1 tea cinnamon
1 tea cloves
1 tea. nutmeg


Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients alternately with applesauce. Add raisins and fruit. Bake in greased loaf pan 1 hour at 350˚.
